The High Land of Rape Cases: India

Rape is the fourth most common crime in India. If we are talking about rape the first thing that strikes our mind is "DELHI". The otherwise proud capital of India and the place where most of the rape victims are found, how shameful can it be? India is known for its culture and in previous four to six years most rape cases happened in this so called heritage country. On one hand we are worshipping Goddess Lakshmi and on the other hand the residents of the same country are destroying the women. If we look at the number of rapes that happened in our prestigious country in 2016, it is around 34,600 (and these are the statistics of the cases that are REPORTED officially). A total of 34,651 rape cases were reported in the year of 2015. Amongst these cases, 33,098 offenders were known to the victims and the most jaw dropping fact is that the rape victims were among the age group of as low as 6 years to over 60 years.

NARROW THINKING of the society is the main issue. What if a girl is wearing skirts or any clothing? It's her personal choice and wish as she lives in a democratic country and no one can stop her and that too when her own parents are okay with it.

FEMALE TRAFFICKING is another main issue that is a threat to the women of our country that involves purchasing and selling of women.

The latest case of 4th February, 2017 where a girl lost her train and anyhow she reached at Delhi railway station was a disturbing revelation to the security of women. The case reflected the dreadful mentality of people in our society where one man and woman sold the lost girl for seventy thousand rupees instead of safely sending her back home.

How shameful is that? Yes we want a rape free country, a country in which females are respected and given the liberty to dress and roam freely on the streets without any fear. RESPECT HER LOVE HER BUT DONT DESTROY HER
