Bhalwani doesn't only mean physical strength but also mental agility- Ranjit Bawa

Faguni Verma

Ahead of the release of Bhalwan Singh, a fiction period film based before 1950's, Ranjit Bawa had an interaction with the media in J.W Mariott. Bawa, an obsequious and modest person has an interesting insight about the movie title.

"Bhalwan Singh doesn't have six pack abs or a muscular body but is an innocent person who wants to do something big. Being a Bhalwan doesn't mean being a superhero but he inspires people to find out their inner strengths and do good", Bawa sermonizes about the character.

Period films are becoming a trend in Punjabi cinema. Most of the commercial films are set in a pre-independence or post-independence era. Ranjit Bawa, a renowned face of the booming Punjabi film industry has his take, "Audiences want to experience what our ancestors endured in that time. Today's world is modernised but these stories are what audiences want to see and that is why producers are spending their money on projects like these".

The abovesaid comedy film is directed by Param Shiv and produced by Amiek Virk, Karaj Gill and Jaspal Sandhu. Nadar Films, Rhythm Boyz Entertainment and J Studio who have earlier given hits like Angrez, Love Punjab, Bambukat, Lahoriye, Vekh Baraatan Challiyan.

The producers and cast are expecting a great response like their other films with Bhalwan Singh that is releasing on 27th October.
