Padmavati release date postponed amidst the uproar

Viacom 18 Motion Pictures has released a media statement that announces the postponement of the date of release of their much hyped film, 'Padmavati'.

According to the press release, "A new release date will be announced once the "requisite clearances" are in place."

The statement issued on Sunday proclaims that the makers 'voluntarily defer' the film as before it was set to be released on December 1.

The company emphasised its "respect and regard for the law of the land and all our institutions and statutory bodies including the Central Board of Film Certification."

The film features Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in the main lead depicting the Rajputana history.
